Lots of new stuff

March 26, 2005 by Wendy S

Today Munchkin did a lot of neat things!

During her “tummy time” she started pushing up with her arms. She only did it breifely but it was a start. Also when she had the frog-rattle in her hand she put it in her mouth! Woo hoo!

This morning’s appointment at the breastfeeding clinic was a little disconcerning. I’m sure we have nothing to worry about but they were concerned with her weight gain. As of her appointment last week, she was gaining an average of 27 grams a day. Over the last week, she only gained an average of 7 grams a day. Because she sleeps 8-9 hours a night and eats every 3 hours when she’s awake, she only eats about 5-6 times a day. The doc said that it should be 8 times. At 3 months the weight gain is supposed to start leveling off and she already is 14lbs. I’m not all that concerned.

We are going to try putting her down for her naps un-swaddled during the day. We tried once today and she woke up after a half hour. I went up and wrapped her up and she went back to sleep. Her arm movements wake her up so this might take a while. Dawn (from the mom’s board) said that when they started un-swaddling Sean, he didn’t sleep as long. I was thinking that if Munchkin didn’t sleep as long at night she’d have more time to get in those 8 feedings a day.

Tonight Munchkin and I are going to hang out with Hubby’s sis, while Hubby, BIL and the kids go to the Ice Dogs game. It’s the first round of the playoffs. Hubby initially thought that Graham might be visiting because it’s Easter, but he’s not. It was going to be a “guys night” but with Graham not here, they are taking Ciara too.
The rest of the weekend should be pretty good. Tomorrow is Easter dinner at the Silva’s. Hubby is cooking the roast. Yummy! Then it’s off to Niagara Falls tomorrow night. Sunday we’ll go to Church in the morning. We’re going to my Aunt’s for dinner Sunday night but I’m not sure what time. I had called the boarder yesterday to confirm that the Travel Letter that we got from City Hall would be acceptable for Munchkin to cross. They said it should be fine. Hubby and I are taking our passports just to make sure there is no question who we are. Monday Hubby is doing some freelance work, so Dad will drop him off on his way to work. I’ll pick him up when he’s done and then we’ll head home.

Should be a pretty good weekend!
