breathing easier: a lesson in the english language

November 27, 2007 by Wendy S

After we got the new furnace installed last Friday, we were advised to have our ducts cleaned.

Now our house is a few pounds lighter as they had never been done.  Eeewww!  Our house is 22 years old and not one of the previous owners had ever done it.  That’s just gross.  And we know that the last people had a cat and we have a dog so that a lot of stuff to be in the ducts.

But do you know how difficult it can be to try to explain to an almost-three-year-old the difference between a “duct” and a “duck”?

It came down to me showing her the metal pipes in the basement and the vents in the floors upstairs for her to understand what a duct is.

I’m sure she was picturing a couple guys coming in the house with some quacking animals and her getting to have a bath with them!!  LOL.  Too funny!
