the beginning of the end

January 22, 2008 by Wendy S

(blog365: 21/365)

Today I started to wean Peanut.. I’m doing it slowly so I don’t get too engorged or get mastitis.

Since I feed from both sides, 4 times a day, the plan is to eliminate one side at one feeding session until we’re done.

January 21: 2,2,1,2 (morning,lunch,dinner,bed)
January 26: 2,1,1,2
January 31: 1,1,1,2
February 5: 1,1,1,1
February 10: 1,1,0,1
February 15: 1,0,0,1
February 20: 0,0,0,1
February 25: Done

March 10: Peanut’s 1st Birthday!
March 11: Back to work

Ugh. I think this time will be harder emotionally because it really is the end. There won’t be any more kids. The bond that a mother has with their baby while breastfeeding is hard to describe. You mom’s out there who breasted their babies know what I mean. But I will be proud to said that I breasted both my girls for their first year of life!
