we have a 4 year old!

Today is Munchkin’s 4th birthday!

We celebrated with dinner and cake at BIGDADDY’s parents house.  She was surprised with a present from her Uncle John who shares the same birthday.  He’s just a couple years older.

At dinner tonight, Munchkin finished her plate of spaghetti and I asked her if she wanted more.  She said “No.”
Me: But I’m sure you’ve only filled one hallow leg.  Shouldn’t you have some more to fill the other leg up?
Muchkin: No.  That’s for cake.

She’s getting way too smart!

A few weeks ago, we celebrated her birthday with my family combined with American Thanksgiving.  Her other uncle and aunt took her out too lunch at the Rainforest Cafe.  They were supposed to go to the Butterfly Conservatory but Munchkin thought she was going to miss her party.  There was no convincing her that it the party wasn’t until much later.

She got some great outfits, books and CDs and my mom took us to see Cinderella.

Tonight when we got home we surprised her with a neat piece of art for her bedroom wall.  She loved it!

winter + speed = collisions

In the past few days, winter has arrived in Toronto.  This is not a surprise.

Why? 

Because it’s December!!!!

For some reason, GTA drivers have this illusion that they can drive like they normally do even if there is ice and/or snow on the road.  Sorry to burst your bubble.

In the last few days. the traffic reports have been littered with collisions, roll-overs, cars in ditches, jack-knifed trucks and 2 major highways have been close multiple times.  This is ridiculous. 

SLOW DOWN!!!

Highway 401 Reopens Following Major Pileup That Sent Three To Hospital

No monsters here!  MTO has created the coolest interactive map that is going to make my life so much easier!

What is the Traveller’s Road Information Portal (TRIP)?


TRIP is a road information service for easy access to road information for provincially maintained highways.

Road closures and restrictions, winter road conditions, construction, traffic flow, traffic cameras, car pool lots and high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes information is provided and updated regularly.

And it all sits on the user-friendly Google Maps interface!  Way to go, MTO!

So go check it out!!

Is proper grammar really that hard?  Or are people just lazy?

Person 1: “Oh, I went to the movies!  Madagascar 2 was great!”
Person 2: “I seen that one too”.

No… You SAW that one too.

This site shows how to use saw and seen.

Person 1: “Wow, did you see that car zip by me?”
Person 2: “Ya, they were going quick.”

No….they were going QUICKLY!

It’s called an adverb…it describes a verb.  Quickly is describing how the car was going.

I haven’t quite figured out if schools have stopped teaching proper grammar or whether people just don’t use it.  If my 4 year old can get it right, why can’t adults?
