Things are not looking good.
“No Apparent Progress In Negotiations As City Workers’ Strike Poised To Start Monday”
That is the headline from an article from a local TV news station which outlines what the City and the union are arguing negotiating over. It mainly has to do with sick days…from what we’re told.
If we do go on strike, we have to go and sign up for our picket locations on Monday. I’m hoping to do the 2 overnight shifts, rather than the 5 4-hour shifts.
So I’ll have lots of time next week to do my spring early-summer cleaning before our BBQ next weekend.
But right now, work is painfully slow. It’s very quiet and I’m not sure how much work is getting done. The managers are trying to wrap things up while trying to figure out where they are being reassigned to. I think most of them will be reassigned to Solid Waste to help with the garbage. Lucky them.
I have lots of feelings about the strike but I’m not going to express them cuz I don’t want to get in trouble with the City or the Union. Must keep everyone happy so I don’t get fired.
