BigDaddy works in an industry where some days are insanely busy and others aren’t. He’s been able to arrange is schedule so that he works 35 hours in 4 days and gets Fridays off. This give him a whole day with the girls. And he’s loving it!
But one day at the park while playing with the girls (and of course taking pictures), there were 2 moms and their kids. He wasn’t sure if they said it loud enough for him to hear on purpose, but one of them says,
He tells me about this later that night. I was blown away. Just because a Dad takes his kids to the park and there is no mom around, they assumed that we’re divorced and it’s “his” day. Wow.
Seriously?!?! How in our society did an active, participating Dad become a divorced Dad?
So, to the ladies at the park, you can just shut it. I’m sorry that your husbands aren’t active in your kids’ lives enough to play with them at the park. Don’t be slotting my amazing husband in to some pigeon hole.
And to all the awesome Dads who play with their kids, you rock!
BigDaddy, I love you! And I know the girls love you 🙂
Thank you for making everyday “his day”… stories at bed time, cuddles in the recliner, special outings to movies, playtime at the park… I could go on. You mean the world to them (and me)!

I’ll re-post this image when our colour scanner at work is fixed. |
SciFiDad’s blog today about his “surprised observations” reminded me about BigDaddy’s time at the park. SciFiDad is another great dad who puts his kids and his wife before anything else.
