becuase she’s 3

September 30, 2010 by Wendy S

I really need to figure out a way to stop my imagination from running wild.

Peanut has her hearing test tomorrow.  The hearing test that we have to have before going to see the ENT (Ear Nose Throat) doctor in  a couple weeks.  I think that the hearing test is to see if the frequent ear infections have caused any damage to her ears.

And then my mind wanders…

If there are inner ear problems, is that why she falls a lot and bumps into things?

If she has hearing problems, is that why she can’t pronounce some sounds properly?

Could she have Ménière’s disease like my Gramma?  (Ya, that’s a stretch, but it has crossed my mind.)

Or is it all because she is 3?

Other than the Ménière’s disease, these are all things that are common in 3 year olds.

She runs too fast and doesn’t watch where she’s going. Very frequently in our house you’ll here:  running feet, big thud, slight pause, “I”m okay!”

And a lot of kids can’t master the “R” and “L” sounds until age 4 and the “th” sound until well past age 5.

Wait and see (or hear, in this case)
My problem is that I just can’t wait.  I need to know and I need to know now.  I’ve always been this way.  So if you’re ever going to surprise me, don’t tell me that there is a surprise coming.  I’ll just keep asking questions, because I just can’t wait.

Maybe it’s because I’m 3?
