Tanner, Tutus and Toy Story 3

February 24, 2011 by Wendy S

There is a very cool author (who I’ve been reading for a very long time) who’s helping to raise awareness and money for Duchennes Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and helping to make one very special boy’s dreams come true.

Catherine Connors, Her Bad Mother, and Feld Entertainment are doing a very awesome thing for DMD.

In the image below, you will see the code TANNER. When you use this code to purchase your tickets to any of the Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 shows playing at the Rogers Centre from March 15 to 20th, $2 from each ticket will go to DMD.  Pure awesome!

But let’s backtrack a bit….

What is DMD?

As Catherine said in her post, “A Prayer Before Dying“:

“Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, which is a condition in which the muscles – including the heart and lungs – gradually disintegrate. It almost exclusively affects boys. It always kills, usually before the child’s late teens. There is no cure.”

You can read more at MD Canada’s FAQs.

Who’s Tanner?

Over the last few year, I’ve been reading Catherine’s blog, Her Bad Mother. In September 2007, I read a post about Tanner entitled “The heart is a muscle. Use it.“

Tanner was 8 then and had only recently diagnosed with MDM. And a lot has happened over the last 4 years. And you can read all of Catherine’s posts about Tanner here: http://herbadmother.com/tanner/ I’ve never met Tanner but through her posts you can just feel how awesome this boy is and how much he is loved.

Go now. Read. I’ll wait here with the tissues when you get back.

How can you help?

This is the easy and fun part. Buy tickets to see Disney on Ice: Toy Story 3 using the code TANNER and wear a Tutu!

Why a tutu?

“Because Catherine said so” should be a good enough reason but I’ll explain more.
Never mind… I’ll just let Catherine explain it.  Read here –>
http://herbadmother.com/2010/08/what-is-up-with-all-the-tutus/
Opening night (March 15th), Catherine will be announcing the show, proudly in her tutu!  Read here for more info!
Now do as your told…go buy a ticket and wear your tutu!
Buy tickets from ticketmaster.ca using the code TANNER!!
