the quest for #EqualCanada #CBias

November 27, 2011 by Wendy S

Saturday morning the girls and I had errands to run so we got an early start to the day and had breakfast at McDonald’s in the Walmart in Burlington, Ontario.  Collective Bias asked me to investigate the use of Equal Sweetener at a venue of my choice.

The girls love when we go out but it’s rare that it’s just the girls and me.  BigDaddy was away for the weekend with the senior youth group from church at a retreat.

We arrived at McDonald’s and the girls ran over to the display because Hello Kitty was the toy for the Happy Meal.  They ordered pancakes with orange juice and I got a Bacon and Egg Bagel with a coffee.

I asked the emploee if they had Equal Sweeteners and she said, “We have the yellow ones?”  She answered the question with a question, and I realized that she didn’t know what the brand was.

That isn’t Equal Sweetener.

I had a chance to speak with the manager who was on duty that day.  I found out that she does do the ordering for her location, but she can only order a set selection of products that is set out by McDonald’s head office.  They don’t order Equal Sweeteners because it’s not an option for her to choose from.

The girls ate up their meals quickly because we were on our way to see a play with Grandma.
