Why? Because the child was not harnessed in the seat correctly and the seat was not installed properly.
Baby ejected from collision Thursday evening (Global Toronto)
“A five-month old baby is suffering serious injuries after being ejected from a car crash in the city’s west end on Thursday.
According to police, the whole car seat was thrown off after a collision on Rutherford Rd., east of Islington Ave. in Woodbridge, just after 9:30 p.m.
The impact was felt on the side of the car the baby was in, however no one else was seriously hurt. “
If car seats are installed properly and used correctly, they save lives.
This is the reason why I am so diligent to get the message out to parents to get their car seats check and make sure they know how to use their car seats.
You Won’t Believe A 10-Week Old Survived This Car Crash (jalopnik.com)
“What makes this rescue all the more remarkable is that, while the truck driver involved was killed, neither the mom or either of her 10-week old or 10-year old daughters was hurt. The police credit the baby’s survival on the proper use of a rear-facing child seat placed not in the front, but in the back where it the car is most able to protect it.”
