When is what they say considered a word? I’m starting a list of the words and “words” that Munchkin says…..

Words she says very clearly:

Elmo
daddy
doggie
apple
happy
chair
ball
shoe
hat
up
Hi!
Bye-bye

“Must take in context” words:
Buh = Book
Ree = Read
ball – can also mean balloon
baff = bath
saw = sock
ah-done = all done
chay = change
Jew = Juice

shots

March 8, 2005 by Wendy S

Today at Munchkin’s doctor’s appointment she got her 2 months shots. I know they are really late because she’ll be 3 months in a week.

She’s 13lbs 10oz now but they weigh her with her diaper on now. Maybe I can get them to see how many OZ the diaper weighs next time. Oh, and she’s 25″ long now. So she’s grown 3″ in 3 months. That’s pretty good! The doctor is really happy with her eat and sleeping. He even suggested starting some runny rice cereal. I’m not sure I’m ready for that. I wonder if she’s ready for that? But the shots were okay. She laid on the table and I held her hands. The first shot she whimpered a little and the second shot brought on a cry. But I was able to pick her up after that and she settled right down. Then I had to put her clothes back on so she cried when I put her down and while being buckled into her car seat. We wheeled out to the reception desk to make her next appointment. I rolled the stroller back and forth for a while and she fell right asleep. Wow.

So with Munchkin asleep, I headed to the mall to pick up a few things. They ave some really cute outfits at Zellers that I’ll have to show to Hubby.. Got back home and fed Munchkin at 2pm. I ate my A&W while she played in her bouncy chair. I figure I deserved a treat for handling Munchkin’s shots so well. The doctor said that I’m doing a great job as a mom. It’s nice when someone recognizes that.

Munchkin’s sleeping now. I’m going to go rest for a bit. I wonder how long she’ll sleep?

busy! busy! busy!

March 6, 2005 by Wendy S

This week when by so quickly! I don’t really remember all that happened. With Munchkin still not at 100% we didn’t go anywhere.

Thursday morning I started feeling really bad and decided to cancel plans with Mom and Dad for the weekend. But Friday night I decided that I needed to get out of the house!

Oh, Thursday I finally got a call from the government people that my EI paperwork got finalized and I will be receiving the maximum per week, minus taxes. The money should be deposited in my account in “4-5 business days” so hopefully that will be Tuesday or Wednesday. Once I get some sort of statement I’ll send that in the City and they can process my top-up. I can’t believe how slow everything takes.

Yesterday we had a great day! I fed Munchkin at 2 and Mom and Dad arrived just as we finished. I quickly took a shower and we were out the door around 3. The RV show was really neat. Lots of different trailers, campers, mobile homes and huge bus-like ones! Munchkin was so good. She was awake for a while and everyone kept commenting on how alert she is. Around 4 she fell asleep and I figured that she’d be up at 4:30 wanting to eat. Well, she woke up at 5 and didn’t really start fussing until 5:45. We got home at 6 and I fed her. I thought that she’d go right to sleep…well she did, but only for about 30 minutes. She at again at 8:30 and again I thought she’d go right to sleep. Well she did, but only for 15 minutes or so. So Mom took Munchkin, awake, and Hubby and I headed out for the movie around 9:10.

The movie was sold out. We wanted to see “Million Dollar Baby”. I was upset because I was really looking forward to being out of the house, without Munchkin with Hubby. He said to me “Is it still a date even if we don’t go to a movie?”

TO be continued….

grandma came to visit!

March 1, 2005 by Wendy S

Last night might not have been the best of nights, but Munchkin ended up having a pretty good day. She went to sleep around 12:45 and was up at 3:50am. She was down until 9…so that’s pretty good.

Mom (Grandma) arrived at 9am and I fed Munchkin. She didn’t eat a lot but I didn’t want to force her to eat because I didn’t want her to throw it all back up. So Mom held munchkin while I had cereal and coffee and then it was off to the doctors.

Munchkin was supposed to get her 2 month shot…only 2 weeks late but it didn’t end up happening. Dr. L thought it would be too much for her as she has been sick. So we have to go back next Monday.

Good news…Hubby is starting to feel human again. Thank goodness. I love Munchkin and all but it is nice to have a break. He misses cuddling with her so when he’s up for it he can hold and cuddle her all he wants!

Mom and Dad are coming up for the RV show on Saturday at the International Centre and have offered to take care of Munchkin if Hubby and I want to go out. Woo hoo! Hubby wants to go to the RV show with them. So maybe we’ll go to the show, have dinner with them and then go out to a movie!

Well, to night is a good TV night. Everwood is on at 9, The Bachelorette finishes today. Tomorrow is the season premier of Amazing Race and at the same time on another channel is the SERIES finale of NYPD Blue. Why do they do that? Amazing Race is going to lose because how can I miss the series finally of such a great show?

**Editied** Just looked at the TV schedule…no Everwood and The Bachelorette is on now! Oh, and American Idol is on too! Good thing for the “last channel” button.

where did the time go?

February 27, 2005 by Wendy S

Wow! I can’t believe how long it’s been since I’ve posted. So much has been going on…probably why I haven’t posted…no time!

The past few days have been very crazy. Hubby and Munchkin are sick. Hubby has the flu and and upper respiratory infection so the doctor told him to stay away from R. That means that I’ve been taking care of her by myself.

Munchkin’s very congested making her sneeze, cough and have a stuffy nose. Sometimes she coughs so hard that she throws up. Poor little thing. So I’ve been using saline drops and a bulb-syringe to clear her nose. Her mattress is propped up so her head is elevated and the vaporizer is running non-stop. I think all of this is working. It’s so hard to hear her cough. And my heart breaks every time she throws up because I’m doing all that I can.

Hubby made dinner last night which really helps. It was really good too…roast and potatoes.
He seems to be feeling better. He said that he’s tired, but the flu takes a toll on your body so I can understand.

Unfortunately, we missed a lot with them being sick. Yesterday was Kennedy’s birthday party and Ciara’s First Confession. I felt really bad having to cancel our trip to Watertown. We’ve been invited so many times to visit them but we were busy. This time we were free and really excited to go, but then everyone got sick. Hopefully we can go visit them really soon. K &; C were really looking forward to meeting Munchkin.

Since everyone is napping, I should get some rest too! Keep your fingers crossed that this sickness goes away soon!
