Ack! Where did the time go?

September 19, 2006 by Wendy S

So what has been going on….
…moving
…getting pregnant
…doing renovations on the new house
…running around after a very active toddler
…working
…regular day-to-day house stuff

That sums up the lack of blog posting.

I have found a new tool for me to follow all my blog friends… http://www.bloglines.com/
Now I can keep up with everything; even if they don’t have an actual feed. It’s neat!

My goal for this weekend is to write down all of the words that Munchkin says each day. I’m so amazed by the things she says. She repeats EVERYTHING but she is actually starting to use these words in “conversations”.

being a "T"s

May 12, 2006 by Wendy S

LOL! I wanted to come up with a catchy title for this post, and now I just think it’s corny. Oh, well. My blog…I do what I want.

So it seems that things associated with a toddler all start with “T”.

#1 – Toliet training
We have entered the wonderful world of toilet training. For the last 3 weeks, we’ve been taking Munchkin to the toilet, even with a special little seat, and “away she goes”. Sometimes she has even told us she has had to go. Not with any consistency mind you but it’s a start.

That leads to…

#2 – Training pants
I’ve decided that she needs them. Last weekend, she told me 3 times in 30 minutes that she had to pee. You can’t deny a “trying to be toilet trained” toddler that she’s not allowed to go so we went. And she did go every time. Yeah! But getting her dress has become time consuming and therefore frustrating. Doing up 8 snaps on the cloth diaper and cover combined is not something a 17 month old wants to wait for. So the hunt for good cloth training pants has begun.

I think I’m going to stick with the Motherease brand which are the same cloth diapers that we use. Their message board has many good comments about them and we have no complaints about their diapers.

#3 – Teeth
AAAAhhhhh! She has 14! Tuesday she cut both, yes BOTH, upper canines (eye teeth). This explains the fussy, crabby mood she’s been in for the last little while. Last night she was so clingy that she ate her dinner (all 4 bites of her grilled cheese sandwich) sitting on my lap, cuddled into my shoulder. There was no bath and putting her her PJs on while stuck to me was lots of fun. Luckily she was so tired that she went to sleep fairly quickly.

she’s a natural!

March 23, 2006 by Wendy S

Last night we had Munchkin’s first swimming lesson of this session! And she did great!

At first she was very apprehensive about the whole thing. We haven’t been swimming since last summer when we were in Nova Scotia.

She was on her back and kicking her feet and she’s try to roll over to be on her tummy. She had so much fun!

If you don’t count throwing up on the deck. She had swallowed some water and started coughing. Knowing Munchkin the way I do, I knew that she was going to be sick so we go to the edge of the pool as quicky as possible. She did throw up but not in the water! Thank goodness, or they would have had to clear the pool. I’m sure everyone would have just love to have their first class shortened because of us. But we got cleaned up and got back in the water.

Swimming ended at 6:30pm, and by the time we got home it was 7:00. Munchkin was asleep by 7:15!

things only a mom can understand:

February 13, 2006 by Wendy S

(excerpt from my MOMS page-a-day calendar)

  • The difference between beige, off-whie and eggshell
  • Cutting bangs to make the grow
  • Eyelash curlers
  • The inaccuracy of every bathroom scale ever made
  • Other moms

How true.

Home alone

February 3, 2006 by Wendy S

Tonight was a nice “me” night! Hubby was out tonight so I had the house to myself once Munchkin was asleep.

I did manage to do a few loads of laundry, vacuum the TV room, and watch Survivor, CIS and ER and catch up on my message boards. A few other things around the house should have been done, but, oh well!

I have tomorrow off because Hubby’s parents can’t watch Munchkin tomorrow all day. I’m dropping her off at 3pm so I can head down to Niagara Falls to see Grand Island High School’s musical that Mom co-directed and choreographed.

Now I’m off to bed.

more bubbles

February 1, 2006 by Wendy S

Yesterday, during her bath, Munchkin started blowing bubbles. She put her face in the water and blow! She’d come up with the biggest smile on her face and giggling!

Tonight was just the same. All through the bath, she’d blow bubbles and giggle!
Swimming lessons here we come! I think the next session starts in March.

shorts!

April 20, 2005 by Wendy S

We had on shorts today! Woo hoo! According to the truck, it was 28 degrees out today!
Munchkin and I had lunch with Hubby and then tried to do some shopping at the mall.
That’s about the extent of our day.

hoppy easter!

March 29, 2005 by Wendy S

What a busy weekend!

Friday was a lazy day. Hubby had the day off and spent most of his day napping on the couch. With all the freelance he has been doing on top of his regular work, he’s pretty worn out. That night Hubby, brother-in-law John, and Russ went to the Ice Dogs game. Hubby’s sis, my niece, Munchkin and I watched movies at the their house. It was nice and relaxing. The Ice Dogs lost though.

Saturday morning we got up and started getting ready around 8. It was a little chaotic with trying to pack to go to Niagara Falls, figuring out what we needed to take and bathing Munchkin. But we managed to get out the door with all of munchkin’s stuff and the roast around 12:45. Spent the remainder of the day at the IL’s for Easter dinner.

That night we quickly came back home, grabbed Dakota and our stuff and headed to the Falls. We arrived around 9pm. It was a quiet night. Hubby fell asleep on the couch. Munchkin didn’t fall asleep until 11:30. But she slept until 9am! Woo hoo!

Sunday morning we went to church. Susan and Kyle sat in front of us. Kyle and Munchkin had fun looking at each other. Kyle was baptised the same day as Munchkin. Sunday afternoon, around 3, we picked up Grandma L(Nana) and then headed for the border. With our finger crossed we approached customs. With Munchkin not having a birth certificate and just a travel letter, we weren’t sure how the custom’s people would be. But everything was fine. We picked up Gramma and proceeded to my Aunt’s. Dinner was great! She set a beautiful table and the food was delicious! Munchkin spent time with GG and Nana. She wanted to be up and standing on her feet so they didn’t really get to hold her. But Aunt B did.

Sunday night was another quiet night. Hubby had to work on Monday, and since I forgot my glasses at Aunt B’s we planned to go to her work and pick them up.

Monday morning, Dad drove Hubby to his freelance work and Hubby realised that he had the keys for the truck So mom and I headed to Stoney Creek and got the keys, came home, had lunch and then went to Aunt B’s. We got back just in time to pack up the truck and head to Stone Creek to pick Hubby up.
Phew! Home at last!
