hard to blog when life gets in the way

December 5, 2007 by Wendy S

Dawn recently blogged :

“I was REALLY excited about Mapsgirl starting a new blog, but hers only has eight posts and already, it’s lonely and neglected.”

And I would agree with her; it is lonely and has been neglected. So now I’m posting to try to explain the barrenness that is my blog. And I can do that in three words: Munchkin and Peanut.

These two little girls are my world…and I’m pretty sure they make it spin faster than those scientists have proven.

Last week I was busy getting ready for Munchkin’s two birthday parties. Saturday was dinner with our families and Sunday was an afternoon gathering with friends. Throw into the mix getting the furnace installed and ducts cleaned and last minute shopping and you end up with no time for anything. Maybe it wasn’t my world spinning faster but just my head ready to spin off.

So Sunday night we finally got to breath, only to have the craziness start again yesterday. The furnace guy was back but didn’t arrive until almost noon. He asked if he could come back today to finish up and I, of course, said yes. And I’m glad I did, because he was here from 9am until almost 8pm. 11 hours!!

After 2 days of being stuck in the house, Munchkin was going a little stir crazy. Luckily new birthday toys were exciting enough that she played with them repeatedly. Peanut is teething (number 5 and 6) so is crabby and not napping very well. Banging and drilling doesn’t help with that either.

Good thing my in laws are watching Munchkin tomorrow so I can start putting my basement back together and hopefully get Lauren’s routine back on track.

It’s amazing how two little people can run one big person ragged…especially when both of them don’t nap. I end up being the one who needs a nap!

It’s done!

December 5, 2007 by Wendy S

Today the furnace and all its parts were completely installed. It only took 3 days. Ugh. But now we have a shiny new furnace, air cleaner, humidifier and thermostat. It’s one of those that Dave Deval on CTV news at 11:30 talks about before his weather forecast!

Now we get to see how much energy we’re saving!

p.s. Hi, Dawn!!

breathing easier: a lesson in the english language

November 27, 2007 by Wendy S

After we got the new furnace installed last Friday, we were advised to have our ducts cleaned.

Now our house is a few pounds lighter as they had never been done.  Eeewww!  Our house is 22 years old and not one of the previous owners had ever done it.  That’s just gross.  And we know that the last people had a cat and we have a dog so that a lot of stuff to be in the ducts.

But do you know how difficult it can be to try to explain to an almost-three-year-old the difference between a “duct” and a “duck”?

It came down to me showing her the metal pipes in the basement and the vents in the floors upstairs for her to understand what a duct is.

I’m sure she was picturing a couple guys coming in the house with some quacking animals and her getting to have a bath with them!!  LOL.  Too funny!

2?!? Please slow down, Peanut!

November 24, 2007 by Wendy S

Yesterday she cut 2 teeth on the top; both on the left side.

The other day I jokingly said “What going to happen tomorrow?” and now I’m afraid to ask that because something probably will!

I love being 1/2 American….because I get two Thanksgiving dinners! Today we’re heading to my Mom’s for Thanksgiving dinner. Ummm…turkey! Thursday was actually Thanksgiving but a Saturday dinner is easier for everyone to get to since most of us don’t actually get Thursday off.

fun times!

November 23, 2007 by Wendy S

The last few days have been so exciting!

I for got to post yesterday but at the Mommy Bruncheon yesterday, Peanut went from a sit to a crawl for the first time.

Today she started clapping. It’s sooooo cute!

I wonder what’s going to happen tomorrow?

Mom and I went to the One of A Kind Show today. It was snowy and blowy but we made it. Actually the weather helped to keep the crowd small which made it easier to get the stroller around. We didn’t buy too many things, but Mom and I got some ideas of things we’re going to try to make:

  • bath apron – helping make drying a wet baby easier
  • coffee wraps – fabric thingies that wrap around a Timmy’s coffee so that you don’t burn your fingers
  • neck warmers for the kids – fleece scarves that can either go inside the coat or over the coat/hood and cover the face

I got a hat for Peanut and a Christmas gift for Munchkin. Mom got gifts for Peanut, Munchkin, Aunt B and herself.

It was a fun day…despite the weather.
