t13#2 – 10 months old

Thirteen things that Peanut does that makes me smile:

  1. Feeds herself
  2. Actually crawls…tho the commando creep she used to do was very funny
  3. Pulls her socks off and is very proud of herself Claps
  4. Waves “bye bye”
  5. Cruises around the room
  6. Rocks back and forth when you sing “Row Row Row Your Boat”
  7. Drinks a little from her sippy cup and the rest pours down her chin
  8. Has to cuddle with her blankie at nap and bed time
  9. Points her finger out like ET and if you touch your finger to hers she giggles
  10. Splashes in the bathtub
  11. Has hair that sticks out in every direction (no matter how many times you wet it down)
  12. Smiles like this:

and that was that

Peanut is officially done with pureed (baby) food. She wants finger foods and she wants to do it herself. The attempts to feed her baby food results in her spitting it out onto her fingers so she can then put it back in her mouth. Gross!!!!

Now my food preparations starts to get creative. Today she had her first grilled cheese sandwich. She loved it; ate 1/4 of a sandwich! Wow!

Applesauce with a spoon didn’t work out so well….

Ummm...applesauce!

the [nap] times they are a changin’

January 5, 2008 by Wendy S

I’m sure this isn’t what Bob Dylan had in mind when he wrote that song! LOL!

Peanut’s switching to one nap a day…i think.

Thursday she didn’t sleep when I put her in her crib for her morning nap.  You could hear her, through the monitor, playing and wiggling around in her crib.  So yesterday I didn’t even attempt to get her to sleep in the morning and then at 12:45pm she’s upstairs fighting sleep.

Hoping for a nice long nap, it only ended up being an hour long.  I tried to put her back down with no success. Munchkin and I entertained her to keep her semi-happy and me semi-sane.   I  She gets really fidgety and shrieky when I’m she’s tired.

So now I have two sick (still), tired girls and all I can do is watch the clock and countdown until bedtime.   It always seems like a million hours away.

4:00 – rolled around and I tired again for another nap.  No luck.  So we had dinner at 5:30 and then at 6:00 we headed up stairs and killed some time by organizing Munchkin’s room then playing for a bit.
7:00 was time to brush teeth and get ready for bed.  I read a couple stories to the girls.  Said “goodnight” to Munchkin..

7:15 – I tried to nurse Peanut but she was fussy.

7:25 – Put Peanut in her crib and she put her head down and snuggled into her blankie.  I checked on Munchkin and she was asleep.

So I’m not sure Peanut’s completely ready for one nap.  Gonna have to refer to my Baby Whisperer book for some advice.

hooray!! another first!! ugh.

It’s really too bad that there is no way for you to hear the sarcasm that just drips from that title.
Peanut may have her first ear infection.  We had to go to the walk in clinic today because Peanut’s 5 day runny nose turned into a barking cough.  It’s not in her chest so we’re good there.

We head back to the doctor tomorrow morning for them to check out the progress of Peanut’s ear.  They said today that it was “cloudy” but didn’t look infected.  He asked us to come back in a couple days but that would have been January 1st, so tomorrow it is.

*knock on wood* Munchkin hasn’t had any ear infections.  Ever.  I know, I know.  I’m pretty lucky.  She’s not a daycare kid so she’s not frequently exposed to illness.  This could be bad for when she starts school in September (that’s a whole other post).  This winter, however, has been filled with runny noses.  It’s like it just keeps getting passed back and forth amongst us all.

I’m going to call our family doctor to get an appointment for later this week.  I want him to look at her ear just to make sure that everything is okay.

I gave her some Motrin before bed incase her ear hurts.  Sleep well, Peanut.
