no pain, no gain

Today was my first Kick-Boxing class. My neighbor invited me to join her so I went. Her kids take Tae Kwon Do at Horizon Taekwon-Do. started doing kick-boxing classes in the mornings a few months ago. Only recently did they expand the classes to have one at night.

I know that I’m out of shape, but tonight was my wake up call. I had things jiggling that I didn’t know could jiggle. I’ve never been this out of shape. Now I’m really motivated to go.

We started off with 15 laps of the dojang — 3 sets of 5 — with 30 push-ups between each set. I knew I was in trouble. I wasn’t able to do all the push ups, but I did my best. We did lots of punches, kicks, squats and lunges. We ended the night doing over 300 sit ups — ab crunches, lower ab lifts, and some for the obliques.

I was exhausted when we were done…but it was a good exhausted. I forgot how good it felt to hurt.

Thirteen things that Peanut does that makes me smile:

  1. Feeds herself
  2. Actually crawls…tho the commando creep she used to do was very funny
  3. Pulls her socks off and is very proud of herself Claps
  4. Waves “bye bye”
  5. Cruises around the room
  6. Rocks back and forth when you sing “Row Row Row Your Boat”
  7. Drinks a little from her sippy cup and the rest pours down her chin
  8. Has to cuddle with her blankie at nap and bed time
  9. Points her finger out like ET and if you touch your finger to hers she giggles
  10. Splashes in the bathtub
  11. Has hair that sticks out in every direction (no matter how many times you wet it down)

I have been a fan of For Better or for Worse for a very long time.

This comic strip follows the life of the Patterson family. Elly is the mom who’s character is based on the writer of the comic strip, Lynn Johnston.  To learn more about the writer, the strip and the loving Patterson family and friends, go to FWOFW.com!!

The reason why I love this strip so much is the fact that the characters refect my situation.  Michael, the son, and I went away to school at about the same time…and he took his teddy bear!  Now Michael is married and has two kids.  Sound familiar??

The strip I posted above is about Michael’s wife her two kids (just slightly older than Munchkin and Peanut).
