Music from my youth has been Minion-ized!

July 31, 2017 by Wendy S

I’ve written before that I love when Sesame Street brings in celebrities and sing their songs with a bit of a twist. Animated movies, in this case, the Minions, do similar things.

Driving home from camp this weekend, I was enjoying singing along to SIRUS 90s on 9. 90s on 9 @ mapsgirl.ca

“I Swear” by Boys to Men comes on and I chuckle.

“We had so many boy bands when I was your age,” I tell the girls.

I sing the verse and when the chorus comes on, Rachel exclaims, “Hey Lauren, this is the Minon’s Underwear song!”

Really?

Yep. I know the Minions are everyone’s favourites, but my girls love them.  Lauren even went as Agnus for Halloween last year… complete with fluffy unicorn.

For your listening enjoyment, I give you the Minions!

And for more fun… the lyrics:

Ah , Laopoda. Talachi , Matol , Lina.
Ah, Labadi , Hochi, La , No chaaa. Wu pla na chii , leh ji

Fuh pa pu seh , La ma nii

Underwear! La kah reh , Li rey wee , Gih leh bya

Mah ke reh , Underwear!

La pah kreh , leh gua ri , Teh lah keh , Lah peh reh. Underwear!

Lah ceh peep, li bee the , ee leh gua. Lah gua rehh

Ley show lee leh duu , Lah keh rey dee zuu

Bleh ahh boh dee zu re kah , Zohh reh kah laa ,

What an amazing summer it is going to be!

July 14, 2017 by Rachel Kreativ

My amazing Summer started off with a trip to Montego Bay in Jamaica! It was awesome, but I will leave that for another post.

I’m so excited for the rest of the summer! So far, I have been hanging out with my friends and having a great time. We’ve gone to the park, the mall, and the movies. We saw the new Wonder Woman movie… it was amazing!

Volunteering

I volunteered at the grade 8 grad with my Dad, and my friends Lauren and Ben. I handed out programs to the parents, while Lauren helped with audio. Ben helped back stage. My Dad was taking photos for the yearbook, which he also designs.

This week, I am also volunteering at my church’s VBS summer camp (Vacation Bible School) with my friends. I haven’t been to VBS in a couple of years, as we usually are away camping, but this year, we came back just so we can go.

Another Amazing Summer at Niagara’s Lazy Lakes!

Tonight, we will be heading back to the #SilvaBulletRV at our home campground Niagara’s Lazy Lakes (in Lewiston, New York) for the weekend. We’ll get a couple of days of relaxing at Lazy Lakes before heading off to Ohio with our camping family! I am so excited to be spending a whole week with them at Wally World in Loudonville, Ohio.

Wally World in Ohio!

Wally World is one of my favourite campgrounds. There is so much to do around there. They have an activity complex a few minutes down the road with go-carts, high ropes and low ropes courses, a mini golf course and lots more. You can also rent canoes, kayaks, or tubes to float down the Mohican river.

A couple of years ago when we were camping there, I canoed 7 miles down the Mohican River with Mom and Lauren. The end point is right by the campground, which is really convenient. Dad followed our journey in the truck and took some awesome pictures.

Another one of my favourite things is visiting the Amish market near the campground. When you walk in, it’s like you just walked into bakery heaven. The awesome thing is that everything there is homemade. I especially like the apple butter and the ice cream.

Camping at Lazy Lakes and Bronte Creek

After a week in Ohio, we will be heading back to Lazy Lakes for a couple of weeks, then a week at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, and then the last two weeks of my amazing summer will be at Lazy Lakes.

At Niagara Lazy Lakes, there are two pools and a playground. But we always have things to do, whether the weather is good or it is raining. We have lots of games to play, movies to watch, and colouring books. We also have Storm, who loves our attention all the time, and loves to cuddle and run around.

We also get to spend a week camping at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, which is close to our house. We have only been there to visit the petting zoo and play at the activity barn. We have never camped there, so I am really looking forward to spending the week there.

The most amazing summer ever!

This is going to be the most amazing summer ever, and the best thing is I get to spend it with the best people in some awesome places!

Cheers,
Rachel

they’re my milestones, and I like them (even if I do make them up as I go along)

June 6, 2013 by Wendy S

(Thank you, Robert Munsch and Stephanie’s Ponytail for the inspiration for my title.)

There are many many milestones that a child has to hit over their lifetime.  Just google “child milestones” and you get any number of websites telling you what your child should be doing and by when.   I’ve blogged about some of them.

Well guess what, Google!  You missed one!

Age 8: Child will have the ability to pick up dog poop in the backyard
…and will offer to do so voluntarily

(and this makes a new milestone for my blog — I’ve moved from talking about baby poop to dog poop. Writing excellence, right here folks!)

Yes, you read that correctly.  Rachel offered to pick up poop in the back yard.

Let me take you back….

It was a bright Sunday afternoon.  I was standing in the kitchen cleaning up after lunch.  My beautiful daughter decided that would be a good time to ask me if she and her sister could go out back and play.  Since I always want to encourage physical activity and fresh air, I asked that she wait just a few minutes until I could go out back and tidy up after Dakota (the poop machine).  I was wrist deep in soapy dishwater and wanted to finish the dishes first.  She piped in, “I could do it!”

Stumbling over my words, I agreed.  She grabbed a bag and out she went.  A few minutes later she came back in and very proudly exclaimed that she was all done! Two very happy girls, ran out side to play in the sun.  I gave my head a shake because there was no way that whole thing just happened.

I am happy to report that this is now a part of her regular chores around the house! Parenting win!
