the fun lasts even if summer doesn’t!

September 15, 2010 by Wendy S

I have the best news to share….

Lay’s® Chip Trips program remains open through
December 31st,
so there’s still plenty of time to use up those points!
If your summer was like ours (very busy) and you collected Lay’s points from your bags of chips, you might still have some points left.
My list didn’t change too much from last time.  We still want to do the indoor water park and I can bet that we’ll be heading back to Boston Pizza again.  The Mini Putt and Subway gift cards are on my radar as well.
But there are many different activities that you can do.  Go to the Lay’s page and see what interests you and your family.  You can use those points until the end of the year!
Disclosure – I am participating in the Lay’s® Chip Trips program by Mom Central on
behalf of Frito Lay Canada. I received Lay’s® Chip Trips points and a gift card to off-set my trip
costs to facilitate this post. The opinions on this blog are my own.

stuffed: boston pizza and lay’s #chiptrips

August 16, 2010 by Wendy S

Saturday night, I tweeted this:

boston pizza tweet

And it’s true.

chip trips voucher boston pizzaAfter a very busy day, I was in no mood for cooking.  I easily cashed in 10 points and printed our our Lay’s Chip Trips voucher and headed off.

And the 10 points weren’t hard to get.  One big bag of the new Sour Cream and Cheddar chips from Costco gets you 30 points.  The biggest bag of chips is 15 points but because Sour Cream and Cheddar is their newest flavour, they’re doubling the points.  With our 30 points we can go to Boston Pizza 3 times and get a free kids meal each time!

We arrived at the restaurant and the kids got a fun booklet of activities and colouring pages which kept them busy while we read the menu.  There were so many choices. The kids menu was designed just for them with pictures of the items the could choose.  Peanut pointed out what she wanted and Munhkin had read that they could get a side Cesar salad so the both got that.  BigDaddy got the Chicken Parm and I got the Baked Seven Cheese Ravioli.

Doesn’t this sound delicious?

Baked Seven Cheese Ravioli

Ravioli stuffed with parmesan, emmental, ricotta, fontina and romano with your choice of our signature bolognese or pomodoro sauce. Finished with pizza mozzarella and cheddar and then baked to perfection.

Our meals didn’t take too long to arrive.  BigDaddy’s chicken looked amazing, my pasta was yummy and the girls ate up their spaghetti and salads.  What I liked about the children’s pasta was the fact that there wasn’t too much sauce.  My girls like to slurp their noodles so this helped to reduce the amount of clean up required.

The meal ended with with blue Jello for the girls.  They thought the blue lips and tongues that they got were very funny.

I should have walked home to burn off all that food. What a great evening!  Thanks, @OakvilleBP!  Thanks, Lay’s #ChipTrips!

i need to get out of this house!

July 16, 2010 by Wendy S

Ugh.  I hate being sick.  I’m okay with a runny nose or congestion because that doesn’t keep me down. But 3 days this week I was stuck in the house with the flu.  The throat-hurts-ear-hurts-achy-joints-world-spinning-just-need-to-sleep kind.  It sucks.  Today I’m feeling better.  Yesterday I hadn’t gotten enough energy to do a lot, but at least enough to get off the couch.

And what did I do with this tiny burst of energy?  Checked my email, tried to catch up on Twitter and Facebook and tried to plan out the rest of our summer before it passes us by.  I started a list and now I’m going to finish it.

BigDaddy and I have been looking at the great things we might do using our Lay’s Chip Trip points and we’ve come up with this list:

  • Waves Indoor WaterPark
  • Fallsview Indoor WaterPark
  • Ontario Place

And what’s great about Lay’s is not only do they have discounts on fun, but food too!

  • Boston Pizza
  • Subway

However, I came across a trip that I we wish we could do… TidalBore Rafting Park in Nova Scotia.  When we were in Nova Scotia in 2005, we enjoyed watching the tide come in.  Riding a raft on it would have been very cool.

So now to move from dreaming to doing.

I want all of you go to and check out the really fun things there are to do thru Lay’s Chip Trips.  It only takes one bag of Lay’s to be able to do some of these fun activities.

    I’ll wait.

Glad you’re back!  I want to know what you plan do to this summer!

Oh, don’t forget to become a fan of  Lay’s® Chip Trips on Facebook!

    make that 4 in 9

    May 26, 2010 by Wendy S

    Not good odds.
I was happy to get an appointment today with our family doctor.  He had a cancellation so we were able to get in this morning.

Completely an aside, but I love our doctor.  He’s always on time….but you never feel rushed.

Once we were in the office, I showed him the copy of the report from the doctor at the walk-in clinic and the information about the antibotics that were prescribed.  He looked at her ears, thoat and felt her neck.  He agreed with the ear infection diagnosis.

I pointed out that this is her 3rd infection in 5 months.  He said “and her 4th since August.”  Wow.  That’s a lot.  So he sent a referral letter off to the ENT doctor and we wait.  He said it could take a week or so to get a call to schedule the appointment.

I’m trying very hard not to worry.  The idea of her getting tubes is a bit scary.  I know that lots of kids get them, but I think becuase I don’t know enough about them I’m worried. Going into the appointment, I really want to stress to this ENT doc that I want tubes to be a last resort.  We need to know what all the options are.

BigDaddy has been doing some graphics work for a homeopatic pharmacy so I’m going to see what they can tell me about ear infections.  I’m willing to try anything to avoid surgery.  Stitches in her face are one thing, but surgery where she will be unconcious is another.

So again, I’m going Google crazy trying to find out as much info as I can.  I want to know what questions i should be asking.  Anyone else out there “been there done that” and want to share their wisdom with me?  What was the sequence of events leading up to your child getting tubes? Was other treatments tried first?

Have you signed up for your Lay’s Chip Trips account yet?  Register by May 31st with my bonus code MAPSG‐RLBLG and you’ll get free 10 points.  That is enough to get a discount or two!  See here for more details.

    the long weekend is here!

    May 22, 2010 by Wendy S

Everyone always talks about how they are looking forward to the long weekend so they can get a break from work and relax.

I really don’t see that happening around here.

Tomorrow morning, if it isn’t raining, we’ll be heading outside to mow the lawn, trim the edges and weed the garden.  But if it’s raining, we’ll be vacuuming, dusting and washing as much of the house as we can.  Inside and out there is always work to be done.

We will be taking a break when we wander down the street to our friend’s place for a BBQ and fire works.  Our friend works shifts, so tomorrow will be his Victoria Day fireworks celebration.  Works for me!

Sunday morning we’ll head to church and get rejuvinated for another week.  With the girls in Sunday School now, BigDaddy and I get to sit, relax and be refueled for about 40 minutes.  This this followed by coffee and conversation with friends.

BigDaddy will be heading out with the senior youth group for some horse back riding.  One of the youth leaders lives on a ranch with horses and she had kindly offered to have 8 kids over to ride.  These kids will have their own paparatzzi as BigDaddy catches it all on film (that phrase doesn’t really makes sense anymore in a digital age).

Sunday night will involve a nice family dinner and who knows what else.  Then there’s Monday.  Ah, yes.  A possible day of relaxation or maybe we’ll use some of our Lay’s Chip Trip points and do something fun!  Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Hope all my Canadian readers enjoy their long weekends!!

(And don’t forget to sign up for your free Lay’s Chip Trips account with my bonus code and get 10 free points…that’s enough for several of the activities available)
