I’ll write again…soon…hopefully

September 13, 2011 by Wendy S

I need to do that..

I need to stop. I need to make time in all of the craziness to write.

There is so much to share. So much that you can learn from.  We’ve learned a lot.

Basement renovations are on-going.  It’s seems to be one thing after another.

Tomorrow afternoon we’ll head to Kitchener.  Tomorrow night is the party for the speakers and sponsors for the !40 Characters Conference.  Thursday is the “big day” for BigDaddy.  He is a part of an amazing list of speakers!  I can’t wait!

Friday will be Peanut’s first full day of school!

But tonight will be hectic. Tonight I have to pack and make sure the girls have everything they need for the few days that we’re away. Pre-pack lunches. Food in the fridge. My mom is staying with them while we’re away.

Saturday I will rest. Who am I kidding?  There will be more house stuff to do.  That basement isn’t going to finish itself.

Maybe on Sunday I’ll have time to write.

What keeps you writing? Do you have a schedule?

not spinning fast enough

August 15, 2011 by Wendy S

Last weekend we had a great time camping! The weather was great!

BigDaddy and I will be writing a post about a cool surprise we got…so stay tuned.

Saturday we did some back-to-school shopping and finally got Peanut a backpack.

Last night during dinner, I moaned about having to do laundry and having to go back to work.  Peanut excitedly says, “And I get to go to school!”

The that big happy, bright eyed face becomes so sad and mournful when you tell her she has to wait a few more weeks.

Those few weeks must feel like forever.  For that little girl, if I could, I’d make the earth spin faster.

back to school in 26 days

The countdown is on!!

(and completely off topic…this is my 500th post!)

In 26 short long days, Munchkin will be back in school.  Peanut will have to wait another 10 days to start her regular schedule because of the gradual entry thing that our school does.

The “gradual entry” involves 3 visits to the school.  The first one will be a 1/2 hour visit for the parents and child to meet the teacher and fill out some forms. The next 2 visits will be just Peanut, a few other children and the teacher for 1 hour.

Peanut is very excited about going to school and has her days all planned out.  She wants to learn her letters and paint.  Sounds good to me.  Hopefully she’ll be even more excited to learn that she’ll be doing a lot more than that.

Her excitement started a few weeks ago with the first “back to school” commercial. “Mommy, what am I going to do? I don’t have a back pack”.  Um…there are more than 2 months until school; I think we’ll be okay but every other day she reminds me that she doesn’t have a back pack.

I wish that a backpack was the only thing that we needed to buy.   But for Peanut we will also need a lunch bag, 2 pairs of shoes — indoor and outdoor, a change of clothes to be left at school, and probably a box of facial tissue.  It’s not anything extraordinary.

As they get older, they need more stuff. For Munchkin, the supplies list looks like this:

  • Plastic School box
  • Pencils
  • Crayons
  • Pencil crayons (Gr 2, 3)
  • Pink erasers
  • Jumbo glue sticks
  • Washable markers

The only thing that is left over from last year is her plastic school box (the ones you put pencils and stuff in).  All the rest will need to be replaced.

Once we get all the stuff, I’ll sit down with my Mabel’s Label and start labeling everything.  And I mean everything…right down to each pencil and marker.

And no, I’m not crazy.  Mabel’s has a label for everything.

The Mabel’s Labels Ultimate Back-to-School Combo is back for a limited time only. Label your gear today! includes all the durable, waterproof labels needed to keep your kids’ stuff out of the lost and found. Available only until September 30th, get this bestselling Combo before it’s gone.

Ultimate Back-to-School Combo 2011

Includes:

  • 40 Skinny-Minis are dishwasher and microwave safe
  • 50 Tag Mates™ are washer and dryer safe
  • 16 Shoe Labels and Teeny Tags™ are waterproof and UV resistant
  • 2 Teeny Tags™

We use the Skinny-Minis on all the pencils and markers as they fit so perfectly!  And with them being dishwasher and microwave safe, they’re great on reusable lunch containers and water bottles.  Teeny Tags can be used anywhere — we like them on the girls lunch bags but would also be pefect for pencil cases (with a zipper) or on backpacks.

I’m looking forward to my Mabel’s labeling party. Me, some label, some school stuff… and who am I kidding, a nice glass of wine!

Cheers, Mabel!!  Thanks for making my life easier!

Are you ready for back to school?? Have you ordered your Mabel’s Labels yet? (You can click on the graphic above to order yours today!)
